The Artist
Mark LaRiviere has had many exhibitions of paintings and has
been invited to show work in many group shows. He was a member
of the Bowery Gallery in New York, was invited to have a one
person show and a two person show at the Painting Center in New
York in 1994 and 1995. He has had paintings shown at the
National Academy of Design and the National Arts Club in New
York, as well as in various galleries in New York City.
Mark LaRiviere have been painting steadily since completing
graduate work in 1981, studying with Paul Resika,
Leland Bell and John Heliker. He traveled to Italy in 1983 to
study early and late Renaissance paintings. He returned to New
York in 1984 to receive a Charles H. Revson Fellowship through
the New York Studio School.
LaRiviere spent five summers in France studying paintings in
Paris and the Cave paintings in the Dordogne Region, before
moving to upstate New York to spend his summers painting and
gardening.
